Extremely buttery, making the mouthfeel quite fatty. Thick medium roasted malt toffee taste and a bitter finish. Have I mentioned the butter? You could almost spread this beer on your toast.
Not my favourite Fullers, but an interesting ale! ako (154), Turku, Finland
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 2, 2006 Amber, firm head. Aroma a bit buttery, quite sweet. Flavor goes with aroma, just adds a touch of bitterness. Nice full-bodied ale, not very wintery, though. As usual, Fuller’s doesn’t disappoint. raymondwave (878), Finland
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 30, 2006 Very very buttery, this is like drinking butter. Also high bitterness which isn’t too crisp. This is kinda altbier like and has some tones from czech and russian lagers. I’m not quite sure what this has to do with winter, but I gladly drink it. Lacks the flowery and fruity tones I often find in english ales. Theis (3765), Denmark

Apricots. English fruitcake. A bit peppery flavour with some hoppy notes. Round toffee taste. Grape, citrus peel afterbitterness. Burned crispbread. Medium body. Second try: (Old bottle, best before 02/11/07) Pours reddish brown. The aroma is malty with tones of caramel, toffee and bread. Some grassy and orangey hops are also present. Sweet fruity and subtle spicy. The flavour is malty and light hoppy with tones of caramel, grass and oranges. Light sweet and light to medium bitter. Hints of fruits in the flavour as well. Bit oxidised. The mouthfeel is soft and almost velvety but a bit syrupy. Light medium sweet and bitter. Medium bodied. This beer is a bit “overripe” but still with a sting of that good old Fullers quality. thomat (666), Göteborg, Sweden

Almost hazy red-brown colour, head disappearing. Nutty, walnut, butter, saltyness in the taste. Great bitter but not sharp finish.
