Full, toffee aroma with a hint of fresh hops. Small head, dark copper colour.
Not as sweet as I expected, nor as full bodied either. Doesn’t quite live up to the aroma. azlondon (667), Fribourg, Switzerland

Clear, dark red amber body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head. Grainy alcoholic toasted malt flavour. Medium-full body seems undercarbonated. Excellent and drinkable.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 6, 2008 Tasted 06/06/2008. 500ml bottle from Regional Wines and Spirits. Pours bright copper with an off-white disappearing head. Nice aroma of nutty malt, fruity tea and peppery herbs. Caramal and nutty malts carry an unexpectedly hoppy flavour - herbs, spice, and other things nice. A little old 200gsm papery note tells me the age. Long firmly bitter finish with lingering herbal note. Lollyish and bready malt notes come through later. Medium weight, light-medium carbonation. Really nice drop, pleasingly more bitter than I expected but just a little older and duller than I’d like it. I’m sure it is a cracker straight off cask. yespr (12404), Copenhagen O, Denmark
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 23, 2008 50 cL bottle. Pours slight cloudy and deep amber with a lacing off-white head. Fruity and malt driven aroma. Flavour is roasted malt with a light acidic touch and a light toffee malt note. Fruity and bitter hoppy flavours following before a more breadish malt flavour re-conquers the palate. Ends medium dry and bitter. Nice and light malt spice English ale. blankboy (3239), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
