Commercial Description:
Cask; Special.
Available on cask during the winter of 2006/2007 for the first time for eight years.
This is a strong amber ale, boasting a sweet, nutty flavour, with rich dark tones from the crystal malts in the all-malt brew. Target hops give the beer its well balanced bitterness, whilst Challenger and Northdown varieties provide a wonderfully hoppy aroma.

Cask. Deep amber colour with mediumsized slightly off-white head. Lacing. Aroma is sweet malts, some roast, caramel, mild spices, nectar and wood. Flavour is the same with some mild licorice and dry dark fruits. Wellbalanced and pleasant.

Cask handpull at White Horse, Parson’s Green. Toffee, nutty aroma. Good ESB style beer. Some raisiny malt. Red/amber in colour with thin beige head. Sweet dried fruits balanced by a decent hoppy finish. Some choc malt.

Cask@The Red Lion, Barnes. Decent enough. Sweetish toffee notes, but stil with some earthy dryness about it. Not really complex or anything, just a fairly straight forward, toffee and slight dark fruit sweetness, not very exciting, but drinkable.

The Partridge, Bromley. A darkly sweet fruit and nut extravaganza. Soft and creamy with buttery notes and a lip-smacking old fashioned English hop burn - deep, earthy and spicy. A great flavour journey from sweet to dusty. Gorgeous beer. Stunning.

Cask (Woolpack, Vantaa) Rich ruby, small head. Complex aroma - dates, pipe tobacco, woody too. Tempted to say I can even recognise the aroma of the London water that’s so distinctively Fullers’. Very soft in the mouth. Huge woody nutty taste - leaves a long finish. Dry, but not drying. Excellent dark ale. They could afford to increase the horse-power a bit (high 5s-low 6s) with such a glorious taste and make it a real winter warmer.

(Cask at Gallows Bird on 2008-01-26) A red-brownish colour. Medium head. Roasted malts in taste. Nothing special.
