Commercial Description:
Pasteurised bottle.
Light, smooth, and refreshing, Summer Ale is pale gold in colour, and at 3.9% alcohol by volume, an excellent quaffing ale. It delivers a flavour most lagers can only dream of, thanks to its all-malt brew (containing malted wheat), and 100% Saaz hops, a Czech variety found in the best pilseners. Like Organic Honey Dew, it should always be served chilled.

Blond color, poor head. The aroma is lightly metallic, with very light yellow apples. The taste is poor, with a very light citrus and honey touch, the bitterness is simply missing. Making love in a canoe.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pale golden with a small, dissipating head. Lovely fresh, hoppy aroma. Light character, no real body or alcohol with only a discreet bitterness. The wheat adds a slight acidity making this a fresh and quenching summer beer. 280202

Bottled. A quality blond ale to be sure but in the bottled form it lacks the excitement of the chase. The fruity hope flavour had lost its zing and the whole thing was a little lacklustre.

Bottle from Sainsburys. Carbon dioxide overpowers the aroma, which is lightly sweet, fruity and a touchy eggy. Too fizzy - harsh on the tongue. Lager like and oversweet with dark sugars or honey, a touch of fruit and some background hops but not much there. Thin, uninteresting, verging on rancid, I much prefered the cask. Avoid.

Bottle (from Sainsburys BBE Jul 06). Overall impression is very lagerish - and not in a good way. Thin body with excessive carbonation. Grassy herbal hops present but fairly restrained. Some malt with a hint of buttery (diacetyl?) biscuit flavours without the clean finish. of a lager.

Thin white head, clear golden body. Sweet grainy and honeyish aroma with an artificial edge. Honey and wax flavor, rather thin. Not very interesting.

Bottled. Golden beer, still with a reasonable head. The aroma is caramel and slightly dry and the flavour is toffee and watery. Overall a disappointing beer.

Bottle. Golden with a small white head. Aromas are light and crisp with biscuit and hints of citrus, melon and fairly light hops. Flavours are soft malts with lemon. Floral in its hopping with dry, metallic elements. A bit thin and too much carbonation for my liking but overall does its job fairly well. I am a bit worried about the proliferation of "golden ales" at the moment - where have all the premium bitters gone?
