Commercial Description:
Pasteurised bottle.
Light, smooth, and refreshing, Summer Ale is pale gold in colour, and at 3.9% alcohol by volume, an excellent quaffing ale. It delivers a flavour most lagers can only dream of, thanks to its all-malt brew (containing malted wheat), and 100% Saaz hops, a Czech variety found in the best pilseners. Like Organic Honey Dew, it should always be served chilled.

One of the best summer ales I can think of. Clear golden straw color, with a thick ivory head. Mild effervescence with a light body makes for a good mouthfeel. Pale maltiness with a hint of wheat and fruit. Dry hops taking up the rear and providing a clean, dry finish. Tastes like a light english pale ale, which is quite fine in my book.

I love dark beers, but sometimes they’re a little much on a sunny day... This summer ale is great for a BBQ.

Looks like (piss) a lager. Taste like a lager. Cold, wet, didn't make me gag.

Medium gold color, medium head. A lighter bodied ‘golden?’ ale. Mild malts and hops. Very mild flavor, mild subtle hop character. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. A nice refreshing beer for summertime sipping. sip on a warm summer's evening.

Full bodied pale ale, decent hops, very mellow and not overpowering. Very drinkable summer brew.

Re-Rate 08/26/02: Almost two years to the dau since I last tried this beer, let’s see how it fairs today. Clear gold in color, the head is off white, the lace is decent. Nose is malt, as is the front, the top is light. The beer finishes, a bit dry, lightly acidic, hops are present. Still a drinkable beer, but not as good as I remembered. Ranks #827 on my current 1000 beer master list.

Malty wheat aroma, hints of bread and butter. Nice rocky white head, with some nice lacing. Pale yellow golden pleasant appearance. Nice sweet and bitter balance with good carbonation. Very refreshing with a slight bitter finish. A very nice summer ale, nicely balanced, from one of the best.

ReRate: Beer Engine - aroma with some honey and malt, less than impressive. Flavour is mostly sour malt, piney bitterness in the finish, basically unremarkable. . .

Light, smooth and refreshing, perfect on a warm summer day in London to wash down an order of fish and chips.
