Commercial Description:
Cask; Seasonal - May to August.
Light, smooth, and refreshing, Summer Ale is pale gold in colour, and at 3.9% alcohol by volume, an excellent quaffing ale. It delivers a flavour most lagers can only dream of, thanks to its all-malt brew (containing malted wheat), and 100% Saaz hops, a Czech variety found in the best pilseners. Like Organic Honey Dew, it should always be served chilled.

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Gold with a small white head. Floral hop aroma. First impression of the taste was that it was too sweet, but after a bit there were citric and biscuit notes. Needed a bit more bitterness. Not bad.

Full pint, hand pulled from cask and served at the right drinking temperature in a pub called The Courtfield, Earls Court. Filmy layer leaving spotty lacing on the glass. Pale amber body. Mild aroma of floral hops. Lighter taste of fresh fruits and earthy malts with a smooth and dry bitter ending. Summer feeling, indeed (London, 01.08.2009).

Pale gold, almost no head. Simple, but very full sweet malty aroma. Pretty simple body, sweet and malty. Almost worty, in a way. Only simple wet-dog bitterness from the hops. Certainly a fair quaffer, but nothing interesting to say.

Cask conditioned handpump Sir Charles Napier Brighton A golden coloured beer with a little off-white head and lacing. A sweetish yet hoppy aroma and a sweetish taste with biscuit notes. A bit of butter and a bit of lemon. Nice enough but would easily become cloying

(Cask at Duke of Hamilton, Hampstead, London, 6 Aug 2007) Golden yellow colour with brief head. Fruity nose with sweetish notes of mandarin and apricots. Fruity taste with mandarin, apricots and grassy, floral hops in the finish. Rather thin. Too much malt sweetness takes the edge of the delicate hops. Summery, but fairly boring.

Cask, Jan Primus. Slight hazy golden color, short head. Aroma is very fruity of pear, apricot and citrus, some pilsner malt, some flowery hops. Bit dry and slight bitter, fruity and slight sour even. Not bad.

Cask conditioned @ Humble Plumb, Soton. Sweet pale malts, fruity yeast and a little chalk. Tends towards cloying.
