maeib (4012), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Dec 31, 2006 Bottle no 47714. A slightly hazy reddy amber coloured beer with a short-lived beige coloured head. The aroma is vinuous and creamy. Leather and cigars. Marmalade notes also. Slightly fusty but very welcoming. The taste is delicious smoothness. Fruity and malty. Alcohol soaked chesterfields. English hops. A beautiful beer probably at its prime right about now. Never, ever drink these beers young, for you are mssing so much character and flavour. Must buy more of each year’s vintage. My last beer of 2006. Happy New Year all.
Dedoulequeen07 (116), london, Greater London, England Oct 8, 2008 At beer Exposed 2008. Great Vintage. Pours a amber copper with a small creamy head. Aroma: toffee, marmalade, caramel, rich fruit cake, dates. Flavour similar with peppery finsh and slightly oxidised vinous finish. Smooth and syrupy just the way i luv a good vintage. This one has held up well. Awesome!!!!! jjpm74 (3160), Stratford, CT 06614, Connecticut, USA Jul 7, 2008 Pours reddish copper with a thin tan head. Smells fruity with some sugar, caramel, toffee, hints of earthiness. Tastes of sweet malt, light spice, some roses, caramel, toffee, a touch of alcohol. Sme vanilla on the finish. Nice! Bradrcr (617), Renton, Washington, USA Jul 3, 2008 7/1/08 Bottle #65,545. Aroma is greatly rich with molasses, alcohol and plum notes. Appearance is hazy tan with a surprisingly good off-white head. Flavor is strong with a roast malt sweet/sour note forward, followed by syrupy dark fruit. Mouthfeel is medium/full bodied with a low but biting carb texture. Overall, very good, and could even age a bit longer. The loss of the remaining carb texture would not hurt this a bit. arrogantb (24), Denver, Colorado, USA Jun 9, 2008 Serving type: bottle

2004 bottle consumed 01/30/2007. nice ruby red color with a nice white head that faded quickly. The smell was very nice and reminded me of raisins or plums. The taste was very complex and difficult to pick out exact flavors but fruit came to mind. The mouthfeel was smooth and the drinkability was awesome. I really can;t tell the difference between an old ale and a barleywine. I thought this was an English style barleywine. Anyway, I have a couple more bottles of this and I will probably not crack another until 2010.
