DocLock (4085), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA May 2, 2008 The FVA’s are always good. Never earht-shattering, but always very good. This one pours deep copper malty color, with aroma and flavor of caramel malt, fruitcakey, hops, yeasty spice, and a fariyl hefty, complex palate. Smooth and enjoyable from beginning to end.
doppelmeup (51), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Aug 23, 2008 Poured a pretty tawny red color into a tulip glass with an exceptional head that stuck around.
Initial burst of malty sweetness, followed by a warming, bitter alcohol flavor that complimented the sweetness.
Smooth all the way down.
Very enjoyable. Avengedpoet (21), Arizona, USA Aug 13, 2008 Pours with very little head. Very nice reddish-brown color. Aroma is a very fulfilling mixture of English malts, Fuggles hops, and sherry notes. Lots of Caramel/Crystal malt aromas. Possibly some peatiness or smokiness in there too. A very complex concoction of smells. Unfortunately, that was where it ended for me. Tastes surprisingly thin and un-complex for being 8.5% alcohol and 2 1/2 years old. Improves somewhat as it warms up. rustychiles (429), Mesa, Arizona, USA Jul 27, 2008 Pours a reddish brown with a nice soapy off white head. Aroma of malt, hops, biscuit, and caramel. Flavor is caramel, yeast, brown sugar, with a little bitterness at the finish. Good stuff. :) BuckeyeBoy (1129), Boise, Idaho, USA Jul 13, 2008 Bottle #74599 pours out a nice amber topped with a off white head. Aroma of malt, sweetness, and some alc. also a touch of citrus hops. Tast of brown sugar, thick rick malts. A littel hops on the bitter end. MiP (4951), Flensburg, Germany Jul 13, 2008 Bottle at ÅBF08, 2 years old. Weak sherry aroma. Clear chestnut colour. Sweet flavour, hint of sherry. Slightly rough bitterness. Needs more time.
