Commercial Description:
Humlen tilsættes af to omgange.

English: Fur Porter is a top fermented beer of the Imperial Stout style. Dark mahogany color with a nut brown head which has a long durability and leaves nice lacings on the glass. Nice aroma of smoked malt and English licorice. Full malty flavor with an extra note of smoked malt and English licorice which ends in a fresh finish, even for this style. English inspired porter brewed with five different types of malt - smoked, caramel and chocolate malts amongst others - and two types of hops where one of them gives the beer its fresh note. The hops are added in two stages.

Bottle that we picked up from the brewery on the island of Fur, Jutland, Denmark, Sept’ 08 Pours black with light beige head, aroma and taste is a little balsamic vinegary (not unpleasant) soft brown sugar and a bit of chocolate cookies. Find the balsamic vinegar comes back again, unusual though quite pleasant.

Bottle. Sweet, light perfume, strange smell in the beginning. A large creamy brown head, which is long lasting. A very dark brown body. Quite bitter taste, long duration. The beer is creamy with a medium body and a soft carbonation. A interesting Porter.

I had this a couple of years ago, and I found it quite uninspired. I have to say that I still feel that way. Very sweet and smooth with a solid taste of liquerice - I prefere something more bitter and burned. Not bad as such though.

Bottle. Average creamy beige head that mostly lasted. Fair display of lacework. Somewhat clear sparkling body with a mahogany color. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Over the palate came sweet smoky notes, hint of underlying hoppy feel. Medium bodied with an average carbonation and mild dry texture. Moderated sweet flavor and bitterness in balance. Roasted malty and again mild smoky finish. Quit pleasant to drink.
