Commercial Description:
Humlen tilsættes af to omgange.

English: Fur Porter is a top fermented beer of the Imperial Stout style. Dark mahogany color with a nut brown head which has a long durability and leaves nice lacings on the glass. Nice aroma of smoked malt and English licorice. Full malty flavor with an extra note of smoked malt and English licorice which ends in a fresh finish, even for this style. English inspired porter brewed with five different types of malt - smoked, caramel and chocolate malts amongst others - and two types of hops where one of them gives the beer its fresh note. The hops are added in two stages.

50 cL bottle. Pours deep amber to dark brown, clear and with a diminishing tan head. Mild roasted malt aroma. Flavour is roasted, caramel and a little chocolate malt. But there is also a distinct smoke note. Nice roasted and light smoked finish mixed with a mild acidic to bitter note.

Comments: Very, very sweet, strong and anisey porter with too much candy thickness for its own good.

330. Thanks, Maria! Great stuff. Pours deep dark black, nearly opaque, with a thick, moussy gray head. Sweet chocolately, anise-laden nose. Creamy medium body with firm carb and plenty of flavor: chocolate, roast, and anise all show up on the attack and persist through the mid-palate. Clean, sweetish finish. Lovely stuff.

500 ml bottle. One finger, quickly diminishing tan head over a muddy dark brown body. Sweet licorice and dark chocolate to the nose. Taste is well rounded with medium sweet malts, caramel and milk-chocolate. Gently hopped. Rather light-bodied with a smooth and mellow mouthfeel. Mild bitterness and malt-sweetness in the finish. Accommodating.

500 ml bottle, via a kind DK trader. Pours a clear mahogany brown body under a one finger foamy light brown head with excellent retention. The aroma is a cross between chocolate and nutty toasted malts with a light lactic note, some coffee and smoke as well. The flavor is quite unexpected. It starts out chocolaty and roasty but fades into a quite smokey and anice laced slightly bitter finish. This could almost pass for a Smoked beer, yet there’s no mention of smoked malt in the description. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a nice soft texture and gentle pleasant carbonation. Overall, this was quite a nice surprise. I was expecting an average Porter and got a pretty great Porter. Methinks this one is under-rated.
