Commercial Description:
Humlen tilsættes af to omgange.

English: Fur Porter is a top fermented beer of the Imperial Stout style. Dark mahogany color with a nut brown head which has a long durability and leaves nice lacings on the glass. Nice aroma of smoked malt and English licorice. Full malty flavor with an extra note of smoked malt and English licorice which ends in a fresh finish, even for this style. English inspired porter brewed with five different types of malt - smoked, caramel and chocolate malts amongst others - and two types of hops where one of them gives the beer its fresh note. The hops are added in two stages.

Black body with fizzy head that disapears. Aroma is of roasted malt and sweet, like dark syrup bread. Aroma got a very alcoholic after a while. Flavor is sweet and also like dark syrup bread. Its roasted. A burned aftertaste. Got little alcohlic after a while. And little notes of soap. Palate is thin and watery.

Bottle at Frederikshavn øl- og vinfestival 07. Buttery aroma. Black colour, oily looking. Very small head. The flavour is also buttery, but OK. A lot of English liquorice and a little fish. The finish is a little sweeter, like sweet liquorice ending with a good, late, roasted aftertaste. Thick, oily mouthfeel.

I didn’t like the first versions of this brew, but May 2006 I had the chance to taste it again. It’s black/brown with a big-bubbly head. The first versions had an unpleasant chemical note to it, but now it’s balanced and quite nice. I get notes of chocolate, licorice and coffee, and the chocolate notes are much better now than in the first version. The finish has a light and nice bitterness. It’s clearly a better beer now, and in the better part of the average ones.

ONE YEAR OLD. Discovered this beer hiding in a corner of my celler and enjoyed a lovely beer. Smoky aroma and flavor added to a smooth feeling makes me going to Fur retailers buying some more for my cellarcorner.

50 cl bottle courtesy of Papsoe. Aroma is sweet and malty with some organic smelling puppy breath notes that are a cross between steeping grains, chocolate and coffee. A little muted ont he whole and leaning to the sweet side, but decent smelling. The body is a very ruddy brown that is entirely to light colored for a porter. Looks like an amber ale and I have seen darker Barley Wine. Has a diminishing, but well formed, tan white head that is about a pinky thick. <P> Fore is fairly smokey with some light on the tongue sweet malt flavors and none of the promised anise or licorice hints. Seems much more akin to a smoky brown or amber ale than a porter. The smokiness really ramps up as it warms and becomes the dominant feature in a fairly narrow range of flavor. Still for allt he negatives I could see some people really digging this for it’s consistent, but not over the top, smoky flavor.
