Commercial Description:
Our coffee beer is more "iced coffee" than "double-mocha-mud", more "summer quencher" than "winter warmer". I start with a brown Mexican lager to compliment the coffee of choice, "Nicaragua" (beans from the La Fem Grower’s Co-operative, roasted by Just Coffee of Madison.) I include flaked maize both for added creaminess and to appease the sun gods. Extra-warm fermentation lets the yeast create more interesting flavors (the California-common effect, or "Vapor Beer", if you speak Beer-Spanglish.) Hop bitterness is increased to offset the sweet flavor of un-brewed coffee. Whole beans are soaked in the beer during cold maturation - the alcohol extracts and retains aromatics that would otherwise be lost to hot water. You want numbers? Well, numbers you shall have: 15 degrees Plato; 37 IBU’s; 5.3% ABV.

Dark copper colour with a thin head. Strong coffee aroma Espresso bean flavour with some medium toasty malt and bitter cocoa. One of the most coffee forward beers I’ve ever had. Loved this one.

12oz bottle. Light brown color. Not as dark as a coffee beer could be. Big aroma of earthy coffee beens. Almost like green coffeebeans ready for roast. Very earthy nose, dust? Unroasted coffee bean bitterness. More of a vegetable/herb/spice beer I’m afraid. Flavor of a cigar with a Connecticut wrapper. Very unique brew.

From a brown 12oz bottle - Pours a clear light root beer brown color with a slight head and below average carbonation. Smells of roasted malts, and coffee. There is a slight dusty taste too. First sip is sweet then it is all coffee. COFFEE, COFFEE, and more COFFEE, Very light bodied. Decent mouthfeel but a tad under carbonated. Pretty good.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with ughsmash (thanks!). Mmmm, coffee, I love coffee in my beer! Poured a deep orangish color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of coffee, roast, earthy/dirt, and some chocolate. Tates of coffee, vanilla cream, caramel, and lighter earthiness.

Thanks to tytoanderso for supplying the bottle. Like a lot of people I’m sure, I was surprised that this beer wasn’t a coffee stout. There’s something that gets under my skin when you look at the label, and still have no idea what’s inside. If I remember right, Furthermore seems to be in this ’mystery bottle’ category.
Clear dark orange with a medium head. Aroma of a rich, dark lager with nuts, cereal and a bit of washed out coffee. Light body with a fairly clean finish. Seems fairly (autumn) seasonal, but I’m not sure if it really is. Not too bad. Points added for originality minus point for the labeling mystery seems to break even in the end.

One of the more interesting brews that I’ve had in a while, it tastes very much like an iced, creamy coffee with roasted barley and hardwood notes thrown into the batch. Good.

12 oz bottle shared by heemer77 at the 10/18 tasting. Pour is golden orange thinnish off white head. Aroma of coffee, full roastiness, and bready maltiness. The coffee is nice, really integrated with the nose. Taste is the nose, the coffee integrates very gently, through to the finish, with a limited after taste. Palate is thinnish, drinkable, nice. Unique beer.

Pour is hazed amber with a thin tan head...smell is smell is fruity and lightly spicy...taste has a bright coffee flavor to it...really interesting in fact, because it doesn’t taste like dark rich coffee, but like a bright acidic guatamalan coffee...very interesting!
