Had at Gurtel Brau in vienna on 7/1. Pours dark aramel colore with a smallish white head. Aroma of dark fruits, caramel, and cocoa. Flavor is sweet, but not sickly sweet. Very drinkable, if unexciting, beer.

Oct 9, 2008 A nice aroma of full dark malts and some nice adjuncts of perhaps some caramel. It’s appearance is dark brown, with a thin white head. It’s full in flavor with a nice malty taste, very dark roasted malts. The beer is very smooth, but a bit filling. A great Austrian 1st.

Oct 6, 2008 On draught in a bar in Vienna. A clear dark red colored beer, with a thick beige head. The aroma of caramel malt met a touch of cerries. Also some hop. The taste of caramel, dry bitter and raisins. The aftertaste is a little dry bitter.

Aug 25, 2008 With some trepidation I popped the top on this 12 ounce bottle. (The best by date was 11-2006) No worries though, it poured dark brown with reddish highlights. The modest head was a light tan. Some lacings. Aroma was roast malt aroma.
Tasted coffee, cocoa, roasted malts and a bit of bitter hops. Very nice dunkel. Might have to try a fresher one sometime to compare my impressions. And at 4.5% abv it is definately sessionable.

Aug 24, 2008 Dark brown coloured beer with small off-white head. Malty roasted aroma. Full bit creamy palate. Finish is bitter and roasted.
