Commercial Description:
The laws protecting the brewing of kolsch are as strict as the German Purity Law of 1516. Kolsch beer can only be brewed within the city of Cologne. As the best-known kolsch brewery, Gaffel's flavor is derived from an ale yeast that is "lagered" (or aged) in cold cellars. Gaffel is pale, faintly fruity with a crisp, hop finish. Enjoy as an aperitif or digestif.

Bottle at Plan B. Clear and golden in colour with a medium sized white head. Quite crisp with notes of cactus, grain, bread, bisquits and also feels a bit toasted.

Bottle in Copenhagen. I’ve had this on tap in Cologne, but that was decades ago. Mild spiciness, on the sweet side. As with many beers of this style, it comes out a bit bland and not as refreshing as a German pilsener. Some more carboantion would have helped this along IMHO.

Pours a light straw colored body with a large white head. Aroma is mildly sweet with grainy, grassy and a weird faint metallic smell. Flavor is grassy, grains, citrus and very light spice. Light bodied, thin texture.

Pours a clear light golden with no bubbles and a large sudsy airy white head. Huge grassy aroma, I love that, some light maltiness & bread/fruit. Very light flavor with a light watery body that feels ever so slightly heavy in the mouth, light crisp carbonation. A very easy drinking beer that isn’t completely boring for how light it is. Faint breadiness, a bit of sweet malt and sour grassiness. A bit cookie like. A nice dry kolsch, the sweet ones are really annoying.

Canned(500ml). -from gas station nead Köln.
Pale golden coloured, medium sized white head, low carbonation. Slight malty, hoppy and faint fruity taste with flowery mild hoppy finish. Pleasant and refreshing but Küppers is better.
