Commercial Description:
The laws protecting the brewing of kolsch are as strict as the German Purity Law of 1516. Kolsch beer can only be brewed within the city of Cologne. As the best-known kolsch brewery, Gaffel's flavor is derived from an ale yeast that is "lagered" (or aged) in cold cellars. Gaffel is pale, faintly fruity with a crisp, hop finish. Enjoy as an aperitif or digestif.

Appearance: Pours a clear, pale yellow body with a small, short-lived, fizzy white head. Smell: Unpleasant, somewhat distressed aroma of soggy cardboard and grains accentuated by a slight grassiness. Taste: Incredibly light, crackery malt flavor with notes of grass. Medium bitterness. Ugh, that cardboard taste really kicks up near the finish. Metallic aftertaste. Mouthfeel: Thin-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Simply atrocious!

Moderately strong and shitty hay aroma. Yellow pour with a thickish white head and decent lacing. Watery mouthfeel and flavor of low grade grains, almost skunky too. Delayed and very faint lemon grass finish. I’m not even sure it was there, but I give the benefit of the doubt. This is pretty awful and much worse than expected from an import.

Pale yellow, snappy nose. I rather liked the soft finish. You really get the impression that the water is mineral free by the smooth mouth feel. A bit over carbonated but a nice summer post-work beer.

The color was pale yellow. The head was foamy, thin, and white. The aroma was lacking. There was a macrobrewed smell. The flavor was slightly corny, metalic, and a little waxy/bitter. The palate was thin and carbonated. The finish was waxy/bitter.

Bright, clear yellow, decent sized head. Faint grainy, peppery aroma. Clean a nd crisp, with toasty, grainy flavors mixed in with some subtle fruity notes. Dryish, peppery finish.

On-tap at Mr. Goodbar. Pale yellow with a thin head, and a bit of lace. Medium plus mouthfeel. Refreshing although not overwhelming, above average carbonation detracts. A tad of fruit and not outstanding in being flavourful or drinkable,

Swiped from WBF. Pours a pale translucent gold with a medium frothy white head with a storm of carbonation. The aroma is sweet and grassy with some corn. The flavor is sweet, grassy, no cardboard or basement surprisingly. Just easy to drink. Not a whole lot of character, interesting in its subtlety I suppose.
