| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Feb 6, 2007 The aroma is very light with sweet fruit, yeast, and mild grassy hops. The appearance is pale gold with a medium sized head. The flavor is like the aroma and also weak. The palate is thin. This beer is almost tasteless and orderless except for brief moments of bitter and fruitiness. puzzl (2648), New York, New York, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 5, 2007 Dry, yeasty with pungent saaz and german hop aroma. A bit minerally in the taste with bubblegum and sage notes. A little thin but good drinkability. Biggest problem is the harshness of the mineral notes. leaparsons (4753), Leicester, Leicestershire, England
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 3, 2007 Bottle. Bright gold with a large yellowed foam. Aromas are sharp and bitter with pepper. Some slight nuttiness with lemon. Flavours are dry biscuit malts with soft citrus and butter. Quite prickly on the palate with a bitter dry finish. Clean and refreshing. TheEnemy (422), Chicago, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 18, 2007 12oz bottle. Pours a pale gold, a little darker than your standard MBC pisswater. A very thin fizzy head forms on pour and quickly disappears. Aroma is crisp medium bitter fresh green hay, and a touch of light citrus fruit. Flavor follows the aroma but also has a slight metallic edge to it. Medium body with a fizzy palate. Would have liked it better but for that metallic tinge in the flavor. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 10, 2007 Vom fass @ Gaffel Kölsch Brauereiausschank, Köln, Germany. Stumbled across this place by accident as my wife and I did with most Kölsch bier-halls in Köln. Don’t know whether this is brewed here as Gaffel billboards seemed everywhere on the the outer brim of the city and not here in the Altstadt. Anyway, this one served up a palest, dull gold with very fine intermittent carbonation. Head, a pillowy puff of white, held on for dear life and frothed down the Stange. The Kobe’s weren’t wearing the traditional blue apron here, just an observation! Aroma of tight sour fruit, a little salt, some hop leaves shining in from underneath. Its spritzy in the mouth, wine-like (as Stew41 pointed out) in texture and flavour with more sourish, tight fruit, a good whack of gritty, pale malts, some leafy herbs and just a smidgen of bitterness on the peak of the swallow. It is peppery, spicy also, both in the dry swallow and on the palate. Body is extremely light, it’s balanced well and goes down with alarming ease. Very subtle in all aspects but atleast the flavours are well-defined. Quite nice, getting lost in the Altstadt isn’t at all a bad thing. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 19, 2006 Bottle. Lemon-yellow body with lightly effervescent carbonation, unexpected pale particulates, and a modest, sudsy white head. Pure buttery pale malt aroma with light melon accents and a touch of black pepper. Good doughy pale malt character in the flavor with subtle Noble hop signatures. Light fruity tones and mild quenching acidity. Semi-dry with mellow bitterness. A solid Kölsch beer that is supremely quenching. Freshness is critical.
