Commercial Description:
The laws protecting the brewing of kolsch are as strict as the German Purity Law of 1516. Kolsch beer can only be brewed within the city of Cologne. As the best-known kolsch brewery, Gaffel's flavor is derived from an ale yeast that is "lagered" (or aged) in cold cellars. Gaffel is pale, faintly fruity with a crisp, hop finish. Enjoy as an aperitif or digestif.

First off, I’m rating a bottled version that is probably not the freshest. This stuff is probably much better close to the source. Anyways....Wow, what a great looking head! Super creamy with great retention. Aromas were of dusty malts and light grassy hops. Mild flavors with hints of biscuit and a crisp hoppy finish. As said before, this stuff is probably better when fresh. I guess I’ll have to go to Germany sometime!

Bottle. Slightly sweet grainy malt aroma. Golden yellow with small head. Slightly sweet creamy malt flavor - smooth and full-bodied. The best Kölsch I’ve ever had - doesn’t have a strange sweet flavor like other Kölschs I’ve tried. Very good.

Yellow straw color with a smaller bright white head. Pure dry malt with a light floral hops aroma. Crisp and clean. Nearly too clean for the style. Light malt and a touch of light fruit. Mild hops bite in the finish with a clean linger.

Nice golden color, small white head that had a good hangtime then faded slowly to leave a bit of lace behind. The aroma was malty and citrusy with a bit of hops. The taste was Quite pleasant actually.malty in the beginning with a decent almost lemony taste, and a slight hop presence towards the end but nothing overly done.I wouldn’t say it’s a great brew but decent enough to be a good summer brew.Well worth trying atleast once just for the smoothness of the brew.

This reminded me of a pilsner somewhat. It had a hoppy aroma and taste to it. Pale gold in color and wasn’t anything special, but I liked it.
