Commercial Description:
The laws protecting the brewing of kolsch are as strict as the German Purity Law of 1516. Kolsch beer can only be brewed within the city of Cologne. As the best-known kolsch brewery, Gaffel's flavor is derived from an ale yeast that is "lagered" (or aged) in cold cellars. Gaffel is pale, faintly fruity with a crisp, hop finish. Enjoy as an aperitif or digestif.

0.5l can brought from Germany by a friend (thanks Alen!), shared with heavy.
Poured a golden body with a relatively big fluffy white head that went away at a medium pace. Quite dusty hoppy nose. Sweet candyish-fruity but a little soapy maltiness with some light dusty hoppiness. One can hardly tell it apart from a (relatively good) pale lager. A very simple Kölsch.

bottle. Light golden, clear with a medium head that recedes. Aroma is grainy with light notes of fruit and bread. Taste is somewhat grainy and dry with light touches of fruity esters, slightly metallic, with a light hop bittering finish. Might have been a bit better fresher.

50 cl bottle at home, bought in Germany by my mother. Clear golden color, fine white head. Aroma is fruity and grassy. Flavor is malty, fruity sweetness, some bitterness. Fine, ut could have had more carbonation.

Light gold color with a minimal off-white head. Slight malt and spicy aroma. Above average effervescence and a little dry of the finish.

Draught. Pours clear golden, with durable white head. Hops on the nose, similar on the palate with some crispness. Overall, however, unremarkable.

500 ml bottle@Plan B, København. Dense lasting snowy white head. Clear, straw-yellow color. Clean fruitness and fresh, dusty and hayish hops in the aroma. Crisp, light malty and dry fruity flavor. Mild spices in the background. Notes of cookies and grass. Fruity, light bitter finish.
