2003 "vintage". No head at all and I poured it at room temperature but....not to worry. Holding the glass up to the light revealed a beautiful gold hue and the first sip? A symphony of flavours. Quite frankly, the description given by ClarkVV says it all!

2002 bottle - for Santa on Christmas Eve, 12/24/2003. Body is almost still - typical of Gale's (in my experience); deep amber golden; despite lack of head, left some lace along the edges of the glass. Palate is very smooth. Aroma is sweet, fruity. Flavor was brandy soaked fruits, peach stones, oak, earthy, a hint of toffee. Finish was well hopped and dry. Santa says "Merry Christmas, Chloe!"

2003 bottle. IPA meets barley wine. Pouring a cloudy honey gold, with a nice lacey white head, This stuff kicks butt. Massive fruit in the nose and taste with sweet malt. More spice follows- cinnamon and toffee. Then a crisp hoppy finish shows up and blows you away. You can atste the alcohol, but just barely. Truly a pleasure.

2003 bottle. Beautiful light amber, with some reds, mahoganies and some gold tinges. Small amount of foamy white head. Aroma is awesome. Does not quit, even at the end. Big cherry yeast smell, sharp aromatic vinegar aroma characteristic of the brewery. Some nice woody aromas as well. Powerful. Begins with some soft fuzzy fruit flavors, lots of sweet cherries, some nice medium dry malt. Body is medium. Great fluffy texture, nice amount of carbonation. Finish is divine. Tons of oak, you can taste the wood, very true flavor. Touch of sherry, some vanilla and a nice use of subtle nutmeg make this a winner. I'll have another please. Could sip this all night out of a snifter.

Darl amber color with only a few small bubbles left on the top. Light sourdough bread with spice and floral hops. Cinnamon, ginger, with a light tropical fruit flavor all mixed with a thin malt and cider liquid.

2003: Deep golden ale with a small, white, creamy head. Decent lacing. The flavor is everything malt with some fuzzy fruit, caramel, toffee and butterscotch. Oily palate with lively carbonation and a dry, crisp finish.

2003 - I was afraid of George Gale's brews since my first, the horrid Conquest. But this Christmas beer is a conquest. It reminds me of like Westy 12, if you want to get an idea of it. I would call it an English Trappist Winter brew. It seems to be rated on the low side, but this 2003 brew is tasty stuff. Lost a point for the lack of any discernable head.

This is one nasty beer folks. 2002 batch, 9.3 oz bottle. Paid $4.49 too much for this beer. Poured out a muddy plum color, with no head at all. Aromas mostly of dried fruit. No hop aromas in my batch. Tasted like some sort of fruit vinegar. Just plain nasty. A certified drain pour if ever there was one.
