From a corked, narrow neck 9.3 oz. embossed bottle, 2001 vintage. Poured a cloudy apple cider brown with a fizzy head that settled into a fine lacing. Aromas of cinnamon, sugar, nutmeg, clove and apple cider. Moderate carbonation and a crisp, creamy light bodied mouthfeel. Tastes of tart green apples with a half of lemon squeezed over them, a light sour cherry, caramelized sugar, Christmas spices, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove with a little orange zest, a subtle alcohol warmth in the palate, a soft evergreen flavor, and a dryish fruity, alcohol laced, malty finish. A good, warming Christmas ale, a nice seasonal treat.

Corked Bottle. Poured cloudy brown with a minimal frothy brown head that diminished quickly with minimal lacing. Moderate sweet pruny aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Medium sweet malty flavor with a medium smooth bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where not met.

Same general appearance and aroma as the other Gale’s products I have tried. Cidery brown with no apparent head or carbonation, and acetic aroma. But this one has none of the redeeming taste qualities of the others. Bittery wine taste withno sweetness or spice. Flat and gross. $3/9.3oz

Little Corked Bottle, I believe i purchased at whole foods some time back. Pours ruddy amber with a whole bunch of crap floating in it. Light barely there white head. The aroma is strong and slightly fruity. The taste is sweet and sour, not so good.

#970, Bottle, sampled at the Champaign Urbana Beer Club meeting in December of 2006. Sweet almost lambicy like. Not bad.

(Bottle, 2002 vintage) Pours a murky reddish-brown body with a small off-white head. Aroma of sourness, chocolate, light toastiness, pine, plastic, and candy. Flavor of malt, fruitiness, and vinous with a dry finish.

Corked bottle from Whole Foods. Murky brownish color with quite a bit of sediment. No head of any sort. Has a very tiny bit of carbonation. Sour fruity flavors going on. A little roasted maltiness. Alcohol is well hidden. Interesting ale. Pretty enjoyable.

Sampled in a vertical of ’01-’03s. Golden brown body, with a light malt aroma. Taste of caramel and tea. Excellent ending.
