BMan1113VR (908), Los Angeles (and Dallas, TX), California, USA May 11, 2008 2003 bottle. Pours with a small, off-white head covering an amber body with lots of particles. Some lacing from the head. Aroma of port, fruits, some spiceyness, and lots of oxidized hops. Taste is oxidized, sour, over the hill with lingering bitter rasins. Too old, but I was expecting it, eventhough I bought it from a Whole Foods on the day that I drank it.
BuckeyeSammy (380), New York City, New York, USA Sep 9, 2008 Vintage 2003. This brew didn’t offer me much. Some alcohol present in the aroma. I actually really liked the spiced carbonation, raison, caramel. Gross, rotten finish henrikb (1125), Aarhus, Denmark Sep 7, 2008 2002 bottle - Incredibly deep beautiful very red amber body with the typical big bubbled beige Gales head; Super nose, deep full with very concentrated rose aromas super dense candy like, behind it tons of layers of malt warmer toffee caramel aromas, great; Super soft very well composed mellow totally balanced deep and very complex super interesting and very very pleasant body; moving smoothly into a finish that evolves over a very long time into fruity concentrated candy aromas, malt and a very fine tartaric bite. Another amazing beer from Gales, I am yet again very very impressed! jjpm74 (3087), Stratford, CT 06614, Connecticut, USA Jul 8, 2008 Pours brown with a reddish hue. Smells of dark fruit, sherry, touches of swet malt. Tastes tarte and fruity with some brown sugar and some warming alcohol presence on the finish. Not as enjoyable as Millennium, but good. SirSlarty (68), Reading, Pennsylvania, USA May 2, 2008 2001 bottle. Wow, nothing in this at all. Maybe I’m reviewing this late but other than it being fruity, there’s nothing special about it. Smelled chemical when I poured it. Comes in a wine bottle cork style opening. Perhaps this is much better when it’s fresh or maybe is close to wine. Sorry, don’t like it.
