Looks like fresh motor oil and it has zero head. Aroma is full of ginger bread cookies and rum and molases and maple syrup/ Tastes alot like cognac or watered down cadadian whiskey, very interesting.

hazy orange brown, no head. kind of weird, it smells like the video store I went to as a kid. apples, caramel, sour musk, over ripe fruit in general. thick and syrupy mouthfeel. spicy apple and booze flavour. finishes syrupy, tart and boozy. different

Well, I feel this one had likely gone off, but in the most pleasant way - sour and fruity with super acidic, tart taste. Quite enjoyable and were I capable of brewing a beer this way intentionally I would.

Muddy brown color with no head. Apples, oranges, plum wine, pears in the very complex nose. The mouth has no carbonation. Earthy, aged plum wine in the mouth with a complex plum wine like finish.

Extremely confusing and complicated name/style/flavour combination. Pours thick, still and copper. Piles of dark crud floating around. Apple cnnamon medicine-like nose. Sourness similar to a gueze. Mouthfeel is thick. Alcohol is hot. Sweet. Hard to taste anything through the acidity. Oddest barleywine I have tried to date.

Pours a lightly hazy copper with no head at all. Semms to have no carbonation as it is very still. Smells very fruity and richly malty. Hints of sherry, vanilla and plum. Lots going on here for flavors. Plum and raisin, sherry and port, caramel. Slight alcohol burn. Alot going on here but the end result is not very tasty. A full bodied beer and absolutely flat. Not sure if it is supposed to be that way but regardless it really doesn’t work for me. Not very drinkable, really had to work through this one. If flat is not your thing, steer clear.

Bottle, 2001 edition. This is funny, it’s brewed in the UK, "for distribution only in USA", and therefore it makes perfect sense that I found a bottle in Japan. Folks, this is one of the best smelling beers I’ve ever put my nose up to. After a pour that looks like apple juice with no head, one is treated to an incredibly complex mixture of brandy, apples, pears, and red wine. You just want to take a good whiff of it every time you sip! The taste lets up a little bit and gives it a smooth and cidery character. Virtually zero carbonation to speak of. Finishes strongly of apples, nice stuff that I’m surprised isn’t better liked on here. Maybe it improved in the bottle over four years as I noticed that a lot of the other ratings are on tap.
