Dark Orangey Color with No Heady. Syrupy Strong Alc, Fruit and Spices on the Nose. Flavor Quickly Fades..Leaving a Watery Mouthfeel and Not Alot of Flavor....Similar to a Light Dry Zin Actually. Hopefully Just a Bad Bottle.

Beautiful deep golden orange body only a very little hazy, with a very big bubbled head; Incredible nose: depth, complexity, balance, age and beauty, somehow the aromas are a mix; it is composed of all the great parts of a Spanish cider, Geuze and UK Strong Ale, lots of both rotten and ripe apple and pear, cider barrel and the yeast aroma you find in some UK ales, there is a very nice underlaying sweetness behind like ripe black plum; The body is very soft textured with only a very, very little sticking carbonation, deep and balanced with lots of salt but also sour and bitter parts; Long finish with lots of everything, incredibly well evolved aromas, lots of ripe and rotten apple, a little yeast, a little harsh wood and again this underlaying sweet plum, balanced and deep. Damn I love these old style UK brews, so much character and personality, I could drink beers like this all the time, what a beauty. Thank you so much Kramer17801.

From a corked narrow neck 275 ml. bottle with a blurb on the back, brewed in 2001 on the front label, sampled at cellar temperature in a snifter. Poured a cloudy orangey amber with a tiny bubbly, fizzy head that quickly disappeared into nothing, no lacing of any kind. As soon as I popped the cork I could smell pungent orangey hops along with a bready caramel, earthy as well, and plum esters that meshes with the alcohol. Low carbonation and a softly alcoholic crispness, a bit slick, but with a thin, watery medium bodied. Taste did not match the aroma, I have a feeling this has aged past it’s prime, thin and watery tasting overall, thin bready, caramel toffee malts, watery hops, earthy and citric flavors have a washed out character, lost their bitterness, the alcohol has a spicy water nature that causes it to lose much of it’s warmth, and a thin, watery finish. I believe age and lack of carbonation have diminished this old ale, disappointing and having lost a good measure of it’s drinkability. I had first tried this back in 2003 and it was much better.

Poured a dark hazy brown with no head at all. Prominent aroma of raisins and apricots. Completely still. A sweet, pungent taste mixed with rotten fruits. Not a good beer.

Bottle from Dilly Deli. Poured hazy brown with an average fizzy off-white head that mostly diminished with fair lacing. Light sour fruity aroma. Medium body with a slick texture. Medium complex sweet flavor with a sweet finish of moderate duration. Not as good as I expected.

pours light, no head at all, much sediment. Fantastic complexity of flavors, smoke, oranges, yeast, apple cider, old churches. Perfect accompanment to a really good aged cheese, like a great wine. But, strangely quaffable as a beer. As good as it gets.

Corked bottle 2001 vintage @ Falling Rock vintage beer sale poured a clear copper with a small lasting ivory head. Aromas of apple, sweet malt and a hint of honey. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of apple, honey and light spice with a crisp sweet finish.
