Bottle @ Kookfest. Sherry initially, prunes soaked in brandy. Old sherry mouthfeel. Not sweet some tart salty sherry mixed with vinegar. Not good.

Kookfest 2006. Sherry and chemical aroma. Chestnut, very thin head. Bit raisiny, bit vinegary, bit of sherry vinegar in mouth. Sour and to me just plain nasty. Please don’t make me drink any more of it.

Bottle (Chris_o Gathering06): Big nose of raisins, prunes, sherry and grapes. Strong sherry like flavour with prune juice. Typical "old" gales flavour. Nice copper hue. Interesting, but a bit "crude".

Kook’s Farewell Gathering. Paint stripper with a hint of vinegar and whiskey. Quite warm. Damp hay. Wood. Quite a fascinating aroma. Good fun to hunt the aroma notes. Flavour is like the aroma, but too much alcohol and a clash of flavours. Harsh. Unpleasant.

2001 corked bottle. Pale brownish-amber color (my impression was of mashed-up raisins) with no head and plenty of sediment. Aroma was sweet , slightly vinuous, and strangely musty. Flavor had some sherry-like oxidation notes, but it’s not overpowering. Additionally had some woody notes. Very unique!

(2001 bottle, thanks chris_o) No head atop a hazy light copper body. Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, raisin, light chocolate, alcohol. Taste is moderately sweet, raisin, caramel, some sourness. Medium-full body, no carbonation and light stickiness.

Sample provided by Chris_o. Clear amber body with no head. The aroma is caramel, nuts, sweet with some oxidation. The flavor is very sweet, but it is cut somewhat by oxidation, grapes, caramel with a touch of cherry. The mouthfeel is relatively light with soft carbonation.
