Golden colour and smooth on the palate. Some sour fruit flavour. Full malt finish. harrisoni (6703), Ashford, Kent, England Sep 2, 2005 Cask handpull at Yew & Ewe Brookland, Kent. Typical slightly hoppy mid brown session bitter with some malt Hildigöltur (5109), København, Denmark Jun 19, 2004 [Cask conditioned] Golden brown coloured. Very boring and weak. Sweet with some hops in the finish. Strange unpleasant notes. imdownthepub (5086), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Feb 2, 2004 Cask Conditioned at The White Horse, Whitwell, I.o.W. Yellow gold beer with thin head. Sweetish buttery smooth beer with a peachy fruitiness. Few hop notes. chriso (4666), London, Greater London, England Sep 23, 2003 Pale brown. Gale's beers often have a reputation for malty sweetness, even in the bitters, but this one despite having some malt, is much fresher than the Gales norm. A little sweetness at the start, quite fruity, but hops dominate here. Dry finish. Although the Gales website suggest this beer is designed to be served through a sprinkler, with a big head, the CAMRA tasting notes suggest otherwise. The version I tried was handpumped, but not through a sprinkler. Quite well balanced and very drinkable, but nothing exceptional. The Speaker, London SW1, July 2003
Ungstrup (14724), Frederiksberg, Denmark Mar 2, 2003 A yellow beer with no head and no aroma. The flavor is slightly sweet and slightly bitter which leaves a very good balanced beer. A nice bitter. SilkTork (4151), Rochester, Kent, England Jan 10, 2003 Stewed hops in the bottle. Some malt lazily struggles to overcome the damp cardboard of this dead and dead useless beer. Joeh (1908), Buckinghamshire, England Aug 30, 2002 Cask-Conditioned. Honey-coloured. Hoppy bitterness prevails over all else.
