440ml can from Sainsbury’s. Rich chestnut colour with thin beige head. Rich dry malt aroma. Touch of vanilla. Basic, malty flavour in mouth. Finish is pretty good. Hops porvide dryness and rich maltiness grows. Some caramel in there too. Some choc. Bit like the advertised Christmas cake. Unsubtle, but I have a sneaking liking for it.

Can. Poured a light brown with an averaged sized tan head. Subtle aromas and tastes of malts. Nothing overpowering. Thin and somewhat watery body. Nothing special but not bad.

Medium brown color, large head. Toasted malt flavor, nicely hopped. Good balance. Nice flavor, large body. Mouthfeel is full and round. Smooth taste, somewhat dry. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is malty and full, very slight bitterness.

Poured a hazy copper color with a thin off white head. Lightly spiced, and sweet malt aroma. Lightly hopped citrus taste, lots of malt. Just below average.

Being as this is the first Gale beer I could actually finish, it’s not all bad. An ESB in a can? Well ok. A decent ESB. I heard this stuff was about .35 per can so it’s worth that. Thanks JF_Grind for sharing this.

Can from Waitrose. Dark amber with a long-lasting head. The aroma was mainly malt with a little fruit, possibly date, in there too. Very malty taste, shading into a slight bitterness at the close. Carbonation is about right, but there isn’t enough going on here to take it above the average.

Can, from Waitrose. Copper bronze, good fluffy white head and moderate condition. Low caramel and gentle fruity hops in the nose, sweet burnt treacle and caramel tempered by bitter hop in the mouth, lingering bitter sweet finish with treacle and hops both noticable. Not bad for a canned beer.

A bitter that is really bitter, and not in a good way. This is a low alchohol bitter, that you can taste all the alchohol, very bland and boring.
