[Bottled] The aroma is a lot like portwine, sweet with notes of wood, prunes, and plums. The color is reddish and it has no head, even though it gave a high fizz when the cork was lifted. The flavor is also very sweet with a wood background and earth, prunes, and plums notes combined with alcohol. The flavors last for a very long time. The flavor also reminds me a lot of portwine.

(Bottle 27,5 cl) Hazy, amber golden with a rough, off-white head. Rustic aroma of overripe fruit. Medium body and completely flat. Distinct aroma of caramel, sherry and overripe fruit. Very subdued bitterness. An odd bird indeed, but I like it. 100507

Bottled. Dark amber. Rich woody malty nose. Extremely malty, gente warming mouthfeel, incredibly rich, but still not overly sweet. Mature with notes of fine malt whiskey, really complex. By far the best example of British barleywine I’ve sampled.

9.3 fl oz bottle, thanks to BelJohansen. Pours hazy orange with a lacing off-whit head. Thick winerous aroma. Almost woody aroma to flavour. Flavour is dry malty with a very subdued woody note. Nice lingering finish. Solid and overripe flavour with a nice malt base. Nice.

Bottled@Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Ruby colour, not much head. Aroma is raisins, hops, caramel malts, alcohol and excellent balance. Flavour is raisins, very sweet alcohol, smooth stuff and dark dry fruits. Marvellous balance. WOW

Murky brown. Deeply fruity aroma (plum, peach, orange). Rich palate - deep malts and fruits as listed above with brown sugar and red wine. Very nice.

Hazy amber color. Strong aroma: malt, fruits (caramelized pears, apples and apricots; raisins), some phenol, light liquorice, wallnuts. Sweet, malt and sweet liquorice taste. Not enough bitter. Good Barley Wine.
