Bottled. A hazy amber beer with small particles of sediment floating around under a thin orange head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of fruit as well as light notes of wood and oxidation - due to 2½ years of storing. The flavor is very sweet and very fruity combined with medium notes of prunes, and again a slight oxidized note and notes of alcohol, which is felt on the tongue. Thanks BelJohansen for sharing this.

(Bottle 27,5 cl) I was planning to keep this bottle for a few more years, but it was about to shoot the cork through the plastic coating and I wouldn’t risk losing most of a beer again in the same manner as what happened to my "Gales Christmas" about a month ago. Pity
Beautiful amber golden, presumably clear but with a wee sediment hiding at the bottom. Small, off-white head. Nose full of overripe fruit with a tart edge. Taste is also slightly tart, you get a notion of wooden casks, earth and noble rot. Dry, bitter finish. Complex and very unusual. 140805

27.5 cL bottle (2005), thanks to faroeviking. Pours amber to deep orange with no head. Aroma is dark malty, slight dried fruity. Flavour is slight sour portish, still dry and also dark malty flavoured. Slight woody finish. Nice but somewhat too old in flavour.

Bottled. Clear brownish amber. Aroma of toffee and dry white wine. Richly malty with some brandy character. Peppery and somewhat acidic with notes of licorice and leather. A very interesting beer.

Bottle. Cloudy reddish colour. Vinous, sherryish, dried fruit aroma. Flavour is also quite vinous and a little sourish. Low carbonation. Strange, but I kind of like it. Probably best in small doses.

Bottled (from Ölkonsortiet, Aalborg). Amber colour, no head. Aroma is raisins, alcohol, some sap a bit sherrylike stinging. Flavour is very dry madeiralike with mild raisiny sweetness. Some wooden notes lurking in the background too. As it warms up also some llicorice and alcohol start showing in the flavour. A bit caramelly finish along with some smooth alcohol.

Hazy copper colour with a small fast disappearing head. Sweet aroma with notes of honey , cinnamon, fruit and alcohol. The flavour has lots of sweetness with some sourness and notes of wood, honey, spices, sherry and salt water. Extremely complex but interesting beer.

Cloudy red-dark amber color, more head than usual Gale’s ales. Nice aroma of malt, brandy, toffee, spices. Full mouthfeel, malty, vinous, with caramel and a wood touch and without the characteristic Gale’s sourness, but with its complexity. The final is warming, quite bitter and a bit astringent. Difficult but very interesting.
