SilkTork (3853), Rochester, Kent, England Jul 5, 2003 Bottle conditioned Old Ale. Excellent! Rich Imperial Stout aroma. Ruby port colour. Tastes like a cross between an Imperial Stout and a Kriek Lambic. Light but oily texture with an acid oak bite. Damn, this is a fine ale! Complex and different enough to provide hours of amusement, but very tasty and drinkable - some challenges for the unwary, but the challenges come with stabilisers.
jjpm74 (2878), Connecticut, USA Jul 8, 2008 Pours brown with no head to speak of. Smells of caramel, dark fruit, sherry, port wine. Tastes sweet and sugary with a nice complimentary tartness and a fruity finish. MiP (4927), Flensburg, Germany Jun 17, 2007 Bottle at KØ07. Very sweet, oxidized prune aroma. Clear red/brown colour. No head. The flavour starts off citric, turns sweet and then dried fruity. Very vinous and oxidized, with some alcohol notes. Very long raisin aftertaste. I just do not like old beer. johndoughty (1580), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England Apr 17, 2006 Probably the most expensive bottle of beer I have purchased. Was it worth it? Well what I got was a bronze coloured ale tasting a bit like a port.Strong inviting aroma ansd a compex mix of tastes.Strong alcohol presence with some sweetness but not overpoweringly so. The bottle said 10 per cent not 9. A unique, well balanced ale-not sure though if it really was worth the price but its too late to worry about that. ante (2473), Stockholm (Bromma), Sweden Mar 27, 2005 Reddish amber colour. Creamy white low head. Sweet aroma of red cherries, candied nuts, tanins, oak and cognac. Thick and sweet flavour woth a light oaky acidity. caramel, raisin, nuts and port. Alcoholic finish with touches of paint... omhper (10393), Stockholm, Sweden Mar 12, 2005 Bottled, 2005 vintage (10%). Clear brownish amber. Aroma of toffee and dry white wine.
