| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 1/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jul 3, 2009 This bottle had the Famosa label rather than the Gallo label. The nose is at first somewhat something and then something worse; the body is a hazy straw color and on top is barely a white head - random, massive bubbles fight desperately to escape towards the top, or at least I would; the flavor is slightly acidic and somewhat bittersweet; it feels too thick for what it is; well, overall, I don’t care.

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 10, 2009 Guatemala tick. Clear pale yellow, fluffy white head. Very clear. Some corn, skunk, barnyard, and pilsner malt aroma. Clean and unoffensive, pale wheat in the middle, finishes dry. I could drink this all day and would probably drink it by the gallon in Guatemala, but it lacks any character for me to enjoy apart from holiday. Rciesla (3880), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 5/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Dec 7, 2009 Bottle. Pours a pale body with a thin white head. Apple-ish tones, cardboard, paper notes, thin and fizzy with a grainy cheep finish. Poor thin body, poor. Hopper (336), San Antonio, Texas, USA
| 0.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 1/5 | 1/10 | 1/5 | 2/20 | Nov 30, 2009 Another piss color beer with no head. When I look at the ratings chart I do not see how I can give this any points. Giving it anything on any of the descriptors would be a travesty. The aroma was vegetal & the taste watery. I do find this style so interesting only because most pale lagers I’ve tried are so bad. nhamilton (70), Cibolo, Texas, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Nov 27, 2009 Pours to a really weak head that fades fast. Has a slight bitterness like you would expect with a lager. goes down smooth enough with no aftertaste. Not great but not bad either. mar (1973), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Nov 24, 2009 Very pale yellow and a white head. Nose is cardboard malts and grass. Light on the palate with a cardboard flavor that finishes very malty. kiefdog (1647), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Oct 31, 2009 Sampled on a recent trip to Guatemala. Pours a clear yellow color, little head. Aroma is faint with notes of honey, wheat, light floral esters, hay. Favor is much of the same. Light bodied with a slightly watery finish. danielcurtis81 (916), San Diego, California, USA
| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Oct 20, 2009 Served from a 12 oz bottle while in Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala on the honeymoon cruise. The aromas and flavors are stale simple malts. Not a whole lot good to say about this. Not sure if even the roster on the label would enjoy. krisbierjaeger (844), dolores, Colorado, USA
| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 1/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Sep 20, 2009 pouring a desperately pale yellow, like an old man’s fingernails, famosa exposed bespeaks a closer proximity to tinny tap water than serious brewing. dropping a kernel of corn into it would surely double it’s intensity. if it were architecture, it would be a shack so poorly built that it’s own head would cause it to collapse into splinters. it is aromatic, but not of pleasant things: this beer has that kind-of rubbery smell of well-chewed dog toys, plain lip-balm, lightly composting corn cobs and dank magazine paper. naturally, it’s limited flavor would be entirely arrested by the addition of a lemon wedge, unsqueezed. but one must concede that the drink is certainly wet, and that’s a good thing when consumed under perfect conditions--like after being locked in a cargo container in the mojave desert for nine days. a flavor of white grape and lemon, plus some tinniness derived from the parsimonious use of industrial grade hop-concentrate. oh, and i’m pretty sure that this was barrel aged. no, i don’t mean in an oak barrel-- i mean a gun barrel. thanks to clyde for a fun, if somewhat punishing bottle.
