On tap several times all over Plzen. Clear and golden coloured with a medium sized head. Typical pilsner with notes of metal, grain, bread and a hint of hops.

Bottle brown, 500 ml, 12P
Appearance: Pours amber, clear, perfectly filtered, beautiful, characteristic of a good quality Bohemian Pilsener body, carbonation is visually medium. Head initially is average to larg, slowly decreasing to small, slightly off - white with very good lacing.
Aroma: Slightly accidic, no chalkyness, some grainy sweetness well balanced with fresh, gentle, herbal notes of hops, malted barley notes, some lemony notes.
Flavour: Front is refreshing and citrusy, immediately you can feel bitterness on palate binding your tongue and being quite strong in its intensity, the floral bitterness, grainy malts in the taste are also felt, but the sweetness is maximally reduced to a minimum, practically no sugar. Very good, easy goinh, refreshing, dry in the texture with distinct long aftertste and well hidden alcohol. Grainy, salty and slightly alcoholic at finish, very nice and good brew. Finish duration is average.
Palate: Body is medium, texture is dry, carbonation on palate is soft, finish feel is grainy and bitter, herbal nose, lightly alcoholic.

My favourite pilsner when in The Czech republic. Tried as many as I could find and this baby was it for me. Nice, smooth, malty. Not too dry. Not overly hopped. I liked it. good beer to gulp down in the summmer heat!

From tap at the Marriot hotel in Plzen. Pours clear and golden orange with a creamy white head. Aroma is mild spiced, slight malt breadish and with a hint of butter. Shows a nice spiced hoppy flavour into a mild bitter finish. Ends with a light spiced lingering flavour into the far finish.

Its dark golden in colour and has a richer roasted, malty taste, somewhat to the point of being burnt, or on the point of it. Really pleasant and certainly (by a long way) the better Gambrinus.
