Light sweet, but still quite crisp malt aroma. Notes of citrus and grassy hops. Semi-dry malts and sharpish bittering hops in the flavor. Sourish and a bit watered mouthfeel.
Some harsh malt-bitterness in finish. Glouglouburp (2874), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Apr 7, 2008 Back from a Czech Republic pub-crawl this is part of my express ratings for the “typical” Světlý 11°- (Czech light Pils), Světlý 12°+ (Czech Pils), Polotmavý (Czech Amber Lagers) and Tmavý (Czech Black Lagers). Non-typical beers will receive personalized descriptions after the express ratings. -------- />
How: Tap late-night in some forgettable Czech Republic bar with nothing else bettwe to drink
The look: Clear golden-blonde body with a small white head
To me a typical Czech Světlý 12° and above is: Well malted body with plenty of biscuits and cereals. Sweetness level is in the light-medium range with some honey flavours and a light caramel presence (3/4 honey, 1/4 caramel). Fruity flavour limited to a light citrus flavour. Medium carbonation. Finish is dry and moderately bitter with a light citric touch. After-taste of dry grassy/herbal hops with a light dry spiciness character.
This one: Oilier, thinner body, shorter and milder bitterness, stronger carbonation, too clean. Bland.

Rather thin aroma with butter, grass, sweetness and lemon. Thin to medium bodied. Flavor is more buttery and cardboardy with still some biting grass and lemon. Aftertaste turns to watery with still cardboard, though this is one of my favorite styles, this is not too good. evilempire (122), sheffield, South Yorkshire, England

Yellow, watery, sweet, frankly I’d rather dehydrate. one of the worst beers I’ve had the misfortune to try, thank goodness I didn’t pay for it mybestfriend (262), Gothenburg, Sweden

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 26, 2008 A standard Czech Pilsner, much better than crap British lagers!!
Aroma is very metallic, flavour is of hops to me, and the taste is floral. Malts peek through at the end of the taste. Its sweet too on the palate but with a slight bitterness to the end of it.
A good Czech beer but not spectacular! DownsouthGav (601), Greater London, England
