Commercial Description:
Oma’s Altbier is German for “Grandma’s Old Beer.” This Altbier comes to us from an ale recipe that can be traced back hundreds of years, hence the ‘Alt’ or ‘old’ designation. This rich and full-bodied beer is medium in strength and amber colored. Its unique character is accredited to German specialty barley malts and distinctive German Ale yeast. Try this for a big mouth feel, distinctive flavor profile and smooth finish.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a hazy, muddy dark amber with a 1/4" beige cap. Aroma is strong hops with an earthy peat background. Smooth, hearty palate with low carbonation. Flavor was a nice mixture of hops and caramel. Bitter and sweet. Well made and well balanced.

One of the more clear beers from GAH. The color is warm, dark amber. Again, excellent head and lace like all of their beers. Modest citrusy hop aroma. Attractive, but unusual for the style. The flavor continues the strong-than-expected hop. As a hop head, I’m not complaining. This is a tasty beer. The body is higher than most alts, but the carbonation is spot on. Another easy-to-drink beer at Gardner.

sampled on tap at the brewery. Reddish amber in color. Aroma is earthy hops, caramel, with notes of fruit. Taste comprises what is in the aroma. Very minor bitter finish. pretty clean and well made.
