JoeMcPhee (3692), Jackson Heights, New York, USA May 31, 2008 Bottle courtesy of geth_in_beer. Many thanks. Deep brown beer with rich garnet highlights. The aroma is quite nice, light cocoa and a soft coffeeish aroma on the nose. Some light roast and a touch of tartness. Very light-bodied. OK, but not great. glennmastrange (394), hobe sound, Florida, USA Feb 24, 2008 Bottle. Moderate aromas of molasses, dark chocolate and mild coffee for the malt, light herbs for the hops, leather for the yeast, with brown sugar and cola. Head is fizzy with large bubbles, off white, with virtually no lacing and is mostly diminishing. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic, moderately bitter and a little sour. Palate is medium, watery and has a fizzy carbonation. Not as bad as I expected considering the style. It has a pleasant aroma and the flavor make this very drinkable. Sammy (3041), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 25, 2008 choclately, coffee grinds, in smell and in taste. Pours dark brown. No head. Is it a stout or is it a brown? sweet malty. Medium creamy like a chocolate milk. mullet2007 (115), Newfoundland, Canada Dec 31, 2007 Pours a dark brown, looks sort of like coca cola, but with no head whatsoever. Smells very much like coffee and maybe some other dark malts. Coffee flavor isn’t as apparent as it smell like it might be. It’s a bit sweet and it’s got some nice caramel flavors, not quite as sweet as their nut brown. Mouthfeel is pretty nice, low carbonation and not too thin. JRHBrew (173), Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada Dec 15, 2007 I said the stout was the most disappointing beer in the sampler (raspberry wheat, amber, red, nut brown, stout, moka) and it was. I figured this would blow. It did.
