500mL bottle from a group order. Pours a nice clear amber with a huge beige head. The aroma is, well holy smokin crap, maple syrup, I don’t believe it. Actual maple. Damn. Smells great, was very enticing, and then the train got derailed, violently. First sip, super-d-duper sour and off, with a maple finish. Like sweet and sour sauce. Now the train is on fire and people are dying. It just gets worse and worse as it goes on. Infection maybe? But it smells fine and the carbonation is in check. What the hell? Is this intentional? The sourness lingers for progressively longer after every sip. This isn’t doing much to change my strong opposition to the usage of Maple Syrup, or even just flavouring when it comes to beer. Good lord, this stuff is rancid. The residual sugar is also quite staggering in its proportions, I actually had to wash my glass twice to get rid of the sticky residue. Such a shame, I’ve never had a beer before that started out with such promise only to turn so quickly into a train-wreck.

(Rating #2730)

500 ml bottle from KW group order. Pours ruby/copper in colour, with big tan coloured head. Aroma is strong! Just like maple sugar candies. Taste is sweet malt, with maple sugar finish. Exactly as advertised, would be dynamite for sharing over dessert, say pecan pie?? Wow!

Bottle: Poured a dark amber ale in the glass. 2 finger tan cap, fair lace. Aroma is nice Not too overstated but the maple is present but compliments the malts -. like maple cereal. Big malt spine, moderate maple flavor mixes with the herbal-woodiness of the Spalter hops. Long wet finish, a tad sweet but not offensive. One of the better put together maple beers I’ve had, innovative use of Spalters.

500 ml bottle from a KW group private order. pours deep amber with a tan head. nose of maple and booze, like a maple liquor. flavour starts with amber malt and a touch of flavour hops but then the maple comes in and really sweetenes up the finish. it took me 2 hours to finish my 500ml bottle. better then i expected but not something id likely have again. might be good blended with an overspiced pumpkin ale.

[2317-20090719] 500mL bottle. Sugar maple cookies aroma with lots of crisp clean celery. Hazy, dark amber brown body with a medium-lasting creamy light yellow head. Celery spicy sugar maple continues in the flavour with an emphasis on the celery. Medium body. Odd but good.

2009-07-19. Brown body with a big foamy beige head. Aroma shows a lot of lovely maple, even creeping out of the glass with it. Muted malts with tangy undertones follow it. (6+) Flavour has a tart and tangy malt bite up front with a light sour undertone that indicates I may have waited too long to sample this one. I have noticed a similar phenomenon in other maple beers as well actually. More sweet maple in the finish balances the rough beginning. Average palate. Bottle via OKBeer trade.

Wow the nose on this critter was just divine. maple sugar with some brown sugar notes gnetly wafting and sticky. From there on past it was a soured bottle. Now it was quite tart but it was too much for my palate to attemt to dicern after a 16 hour day. I’d like to try it again as it should be. I am not surprised since maple sugar can be a fickle ingredient whilst brewing.
