Garrison Tall Ship Ale

Draught at the Quarterdeck Grill (Summerville, NS). Clear orange/gold with small wihte head. A bit of sweet malt and some fruity hops in the aroma. Flavour has a sweet maltiness to it. Light carbonation.

Bottle, courtesy of friends Red and K. Orange pour, very little head, fizzy enough. Some fruity malt in mild aroma. Taste is more fruity malt, some acidic edge as well. Dry, mild fruity hops present as well. Did not do anything for me at all, not even as an every day sort of session like beer.

Draught. Light aromas of grain, grass and pepper. Head is small fizzy/creamy, white, with fair lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear amber. Flavor starts lightly acidic and finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is light, dry/watery and has a lively carbonation. Light on everything but still a good drinking beer.

Pours a deep amber to copper color with not too much head. Aroma is nice citrusy hops with a hint of caramel sort of malts in the background. Flavor has a nice malty backing with a solid hoppy front and finish. Not too carbonated, and not too watery. A good beer.

Basically the smell and fizz of this beer nearly ruin it. If there was some character to the aroma and an appropriate level of carbonation it would be way better. The malt and hop choices works for me. Everything else doesn’t.
