Deep brown coloured body with a very thin, two millimetre tall tan head. Aroma of sour grapes (like a lambic), caramel, malt, alcohol and a bit of tart yeast - nice! Medium-bodied; Strong assertive maltiness up front with some wheat and yeast, then fades to a pleasant tangy character full of fruit and ends with a mellow alcohol taste coupled with some raisins and pit fruits - nice! Aftertaste shows a mix between sour grapes and a malty, pit-fruity alcohol finish - good for the style and definitely an interesting take! I sampled this 33 cL stubby bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Spirits in Washington, DC on 25-July-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 25-September-2009.

Bottle from Craft. Pours turbid dark brown with ruby hints and an off-khaki head. Nose is spicy yeast, peaty boggy malt, tart fruit, citrus. Tastes earthy, peaty, fruity, with yeasty spice, port wine, berry, caramel, and spicy flavors. Complex and interesting, this one is decent.

Bottle courtesy of Ibrew2or3. Pours a honey brown color with thin tan head. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of spice, ripe dark fruit, earthy esters, caramel. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of sourness, brown sugar, caramel, hints of chocolate. Generally medium body with a slightly boozy finish.

Thanks to IBrew2or3 for the share. Pours hazy brown with a white head. Nose is candy sugar, malt, slight sourness, cherries, yeast, and caramel. Flavor is candy sugar, yeast, molasses, and raisins. Medium-bodied and pretty nice overall.

Cloudy brown pour, moderate white head with decent retention. Nose of diverse sweet fruits, burnt sugar, and wet grass clippings. Flavor is relatively tame, hint of wild yeast acidity with some of the fruit from the nose. A touch of burnt sugar on the finish; surprisingly light mouthfeel that hides the booze well. Quite interesting, if perhaps not my favorite in the style.

Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours dirty brown with thin white head. The aroma is whole cherries, dates, sugar sweet malts, sweet grapes and a sense of cinnamon. The taste is similar with dark fruitiness, sugar sweet slick malts and a bit of spiciness. I also get a dash of fruit skin tannin tartness to go along with the sweet fruity notes. Pretty tasty.

From the Bottle at Chris O’s, GBBF Week 09/08/2008 Strong fruit aroma. Mid brown amber coloured and sweet on the palate with a little dryness in a crisp full malt finish.

Bottle, bought @ Willems, Grobbendonk.
Pours deep chestnut with a red hue. Frothy, beige, thin head. Aroma has lots of fruit. Raisins, raspberries, black currants. Some caramel and light alcohol. A touch of spice and a little tartness. Medium carbonation, a bit weak mouthfeel. Flavour is lightly tart, some raisins, oranges, black currants (especially). Weak caramel and yeast. Okay, but I don’t know if the tartness is all intentional.
