KyotoLefty (1370), Kyoto, Japan Aug 2, 2009 Deep, rich honey golden color with a huge head and obvious carbonation. Fruity, grapefruit, orange, pineapple. Spicy yeast. Very refreshing and inviting. Slightly biscuity pilsner malts stand out as well. Very fruity and sweet, but with a pronounced tartness too. Cherries, honey, lots of lemon, some pineapple. Very complex, though a bit too sweet. It is decently balanced, though, by sour flavors, alcohol, and a decently bitter finish. A big beer all around—could use a little more restraint. However, the huge sweet-and-sour flavor is quite original and interesting.
notalush (2626), Denver, Colorado, USA Jul 10, 2009 33cl bottle, labeled as "singing blonde" - I can’t remember the last time I smelled a beer and thought, "what the fuck?" - the aroma is like an odd mixture of spoiled apple cider, acetone, rotting fruit, honey, musk/sweat - it’s not as vile as I’m describing it, but it’s still not all that pleasant - the flavor is sour and sweaty, with notes of acetone, tart apples, pear skins, tangy wheat, flowers, herbs - ends tangy and spicy - not as bad as the aroma suggests - unique, but not exactly in a good way. Wim (1278), Turnhout, Belgium Jun 19, 2009 hazy gold blond coloured body with a sparkling white head a sweet fruity herby aroma a herby fruity sweet taste with a sour bitter finish Yves (989), Beerse, Belgium Jun 14, 2009 Hazy blond coloured beer with small white head and no carbonation visible. Herby, cooked vegetable aroma. Full sparkling, creamy palate. Finish is sour ending a little dry and herby. thebeertourist (2750), Oslo, Norway Jun 13, 2009 Bottle from Kris Wines, London. Cloudy, orangey amber with a violent head. Complex fruity aroma, marrying orange zest to spices and yeastiness. Orange zest flavours, some breadiness and spices. Semi-sweet with warming alcohol. A welcome newcomer. MoritzF (4856), Bochum, Germany May 23, 2009 (33cl bottle) Hazy, golden colour with myriads of floaties and a medium-sized foamy white head. Sourish lemon-zesty and slightly sweet malty nose. Sourish and slightly sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a calm carbonation. Soft malty and distinctively citrus-fruity taste (grapefruit), combined with oak-wood honey flavours; sourish and minimal bitter finish with a touch of medicinal flavours. Not that bad, just not my thing (23.V.09). fredandboboflo (1394), East Setauket, New York, USA May 22, 2009 Bottle. Aroma of graham cracker and Italian bread malt with some sour lemon notes, or maybe apricot, bordering on yogurty and barnyardy. Flavor the same, great malty, grainy complexity with those distinctly funky, yeasty notes and continuing sour fruitiness. Quite dry. Lovely. LilBeerDoctor (1479), East Setauket, New York, USA May 22, 2009 Updated: Jul 10, 2009Bottle (labeled "Singing blonde"). Pours a cloudy light golden color with a small white head.
