| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 8, 2008 11.2oz brown bottle from A-1 To-Go in Gardiner. Pours a hazy golden almost red body with nearly an inch of off-white head. Smell is not overwhelming, but consists of spice, caramel, and fruit. Tastes fruity - like citrus, apple, pear... Some roast, yeast, and slight alcohol is apparent. Very dry, one of the driest beers I’ve had in some time. Fairly clean on the finish Medium in body with vigorous carbonation. A fairly easy drinker considering the abv. Not bad at all, but not necessarily something I’ll be seeking out again very soon. Well worth the try though, very unique. porterhouse (1161), Alna, Maine, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 7, 2008 (330 ml bottle from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/maine/boothbay/ target=blank>1828 Vintage House, cellared for 7 mos. after purchase) Pours cloudy brownish amber with two fingers of biege head. Aroma is sort of sour with some caramel and maybe wood. Mouthfeel is lightly spritzy, sort of dryish. Some light webby sheets of lacing. Taste is rather tart without being sour. A bit bland. Has kind of a dryish, wooden-like feel. Maybe some light caramel under the tartness. A nice quality beer for sure but taste didn’t really go anywhere IMO. colts9016 (198), Idaho, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Mar 5, 2008 The pour is a deep red with a two to three finger tan head. The nose is bready malty, citrus, caramel and molasses. The taste is malty and sweet syurpy and thick with hints of yeast. The beer would be better 5 or 6 years down the road. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 7, 2008 Bottle (330ml). Another exploder. Poured a dark/deep amber red with a large tanned off-white head which was average lasting. Aroma was of toffee, malts orange peel, golden syrup, alcohol and some prunes. Alcohol content was present on this one (which was to my liking) with some toffee and malts to back it up as swell as dried apricots and other mixed dried fruits, warming finish. Full bodied with lively carbonation, slight watery texture yet a syrupy mouthfeel and a good finish.
