Commercial Description:
Bottle; Unfiltered.
Gavroche was a generous and rebellious Paris urchin and a character in the Victor Hugo (1802-1885) novel “Les Misérables.” It is also a strong, amber beer, where the flavour of its top-fermentation yeast combines perfectly with the taste of the special malts. Fermented again in the bottle, the Gavroche beer should be served with care between 10 and 12°C.

11.2 oz. bottle. Hazy orange color with a creamy white head. Faint toasted malt aroma. Dryish, bittersweet malt flavor with a moderate dry, peppery finish. Noticeable alcohol prescence. Average for it’s style.

Bottle. Amber brown pour, with a ton of head (overflowed out of my Unibroue tulip, actually). Fruity aromas: raisin, apple, pear. Flavor is sweet, with some caramel notes and malts. Smooth and velvet-like on the palate. Recommended.

(Bottle 33 cl) Pours a cloudy, warm, dark, orangey golden with a tall, dense and lasting off-white head leaving quite some lacework. Lightly fusty aroma. Quite a full body, sweetish caramel, notes of wood and apple/calvados, sherry and earth. Very complex and very lovely. 180807

Pours a brownish, amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is of sweet malts, dark fruit, almost a slight hint of tartness, caramel, and toffee. Light on the palate with flavors of raisons, plums, caramel, and toffee to begin. Finishes with a little alcohol warming that wasn’t present on the nose. Also has a slight candied sugar flavor on the finish. I’m rather impressed with the flavors of this beer but dissapointed in the aroma.

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy brown to orange with huge off-white head. Slight sour/apple nose at first and goes more into a malty and fruity notes. Sweet and slight caramel flavour. Cane sugar and alcohol warming finish. Very nice.

I really liked this beer. Rocky white head early and thne thins sown to a modest foamy residue. Tan / dull copper in colour. Powerful aromas of dark fruits, sweet cakey malts and hints of scotch whiskey. The flavours are Belgian-like with respect to big heavy malts and traces of alcohol heat. It drinks every bit its 8.5% although it lightens a fraction on the finish with an excellent sweet oak finish. Some alcohol derived bitterness comes in very late, as do some pongy / stinky notes.

Bottle purchased from the TRC Hotel in Launceston Tasmania. Hazy iced-tea amber colour with a very thick white head that displays excellent retention. Aroma is all butter toffee and bready yeast (smells yummy!). Caramel malt and chewy breadiness dominate the palate, along with mild spiciness. Really nice.
