Commercial Description:
Bottle; Unfiltered.
Gavroche was a generous and rebellious Paris urchin and a character in the Victor Hugo (1802-1885) novel “Les Misérables.” It is also a strong, amber beer, where the flavour of its top-fermentation yeast combines perfectly with the taste of the special malts. Fermented again in the bottle, the Gavroche beer should be served with care between 10 and 12°C.

bb end 2009. Beautiful clear amber without much sediment at all. Big fluffy head settles down to permanent 2cm icecap with a bulge in the middle. Lovely aroma mixing doughy, peachy yeasty esters, bready malt, caramel, vanilla. warm malt fills all the corners of your mouth, long finish with some faint bubblegum phenols and a trace of sourness. finish of malt and fruit together gradually dried out with a mellow saazy flavour. This is more stereotypically biere de gardy than 3 monts that’s for sure, all about rich melanoidins. bocky malt without bocky fattiness. should do well in winter with a hunk of roquefort.

A decnet beer that mimics many others. Smells standard and tastes like the bastard child of better beers.

In the bottle from HyVee CB. Pours a dark gold/light amber with a glorious dense off-white head that remains significant until the last gulp of foam from the bottom of the glass. Aroma of mild fruitiness, raisins perhaps, but not a pronounced aroma by any means. In fact, this beer was nothing like I expected. I thought that there would at least be something special about it. Or at least something remarkable. Flavor an odd quinine perhaps, but not so much that you could tell. Fairly middle of the road beer. Not bad at all, just nothing that stands out. Slight mid palate saltiness. Perhaps a subtle sour cherry taste, but you’ve got to want to find it.

Lightly sour cherry aroma with hints of yeast come from the medium brown body with a light head and low carbonation. The palate is thin to medium and lies under light caramel malt flavors that have a slightly sour tough to them.

Pours all head before condensing into a nice amber color with frothy head. A little caramel sweetness, bready, warm full mouthfeel. The alcohol is well masked. Surprisingly not bad.

Bottled. Beer is clear, medium-hued red-amber. Head is initially large, off-white, creamy-frothy, diminishes into a thick, creamy ring.
The aroma is malty with with light notes of toasted grain, cookie and brulee; Hoppy with a light floral and herbal notes; Yeasty with a light note of cellar; Miscellaneous light vinous note, garden soil (something reminds me of escargot), oak, pepper.
The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter, lightly-to-moderately acidic with a long, lightly sweet, trace acidic finish.
The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively.
Subtle, beautiful, earthy.

Bottle. Big white head. Strong aroma. Scipy but still sweet aroma, a good signs of whats to come. Taste is similar, spicy with hints of citrus and yeast. Nice smooth finish. Alcohol is barely noticeable. A good one.
