Commercial Description:
Bottle; Unfiltered.
Gavroche was a generous and rebellious Paris urchin and a character in the Victor Hugo (1802-1885) novel “Les Misérables.” It is also a strong, amber beer, where the flavour of its top-fermentation yeast combines perfectly with the taste of the special malts. Fermented again in the bottle, the Gavroche beer should be served with care between 10 and 12°C.

A bottle from Alko shop. Pale head. Pale copper coloured. Soft malty nose. Slightly sour taste. Quite hard taste at beginning some syropy. When getting warmer the taste is coming better.

Bottle: Pours a nice glowing hazy amber color with a strong light tan film of head. Aroma has some caramel soaked fruits, plum notes, a touch of diacetyl, and some peppery phenols. A bit thin with loose carbonation. Flavor is pleasant with some fruit skin bitterness (apple skin), mineral notes, smooth, lightly oxidized caramel, and a peppery bitter fruit skin finish. Not bad, just a tad lacking in body.

Stupendously huge head, very stable and cream-coloured over clear, deep amber to foxy beer. Rather fresh herbal aroma, like nettles or so, firewood with some dried resin, dried fruits as apricots and caramel malts. Fresh, quite caramelly however, flavour, with good maltbite balanced by slightly metallic hops. Very tasteful, but surprisingly drinkable for a 8.5% beer. Slight liquorice, toffee, but nowhere cloying. Medium bodied, end slickness with some viscosity at last, alcohol remaining hidden. Remarkable – this beer being much better than I seem to remember. A really good one!

bottle. Hazy copper-yellow colour, large white head. Fruity nose. Sweet and malty with some nice spicy hops and afruity touch. The alcohol is clearly detectable and has a warming effect.

330 ml bottle. Coppery color, huge "duvelesque" off-white head. Medicinal alcohol aroma. Somewhat spicy aroma with alcohol and a touch of caramel, long bready malt finish. Medium body, medium-high carbonation. Not my style.

330 ml bottle. Finland. Absolutely huge foamy head. Malty aroma. Caramel and warming alcohol flavour. Colder than advised.

Pours deep amber colour with a large foamy head. Notable flowery and cellary smell. Aroma is a nice mixture of sweetish malts, flowery hops, notes of caramel, spices and yeast. Mouthfeel turns velvety smooth and a bit sour after first kick of carbonation. Medium-bodied. Alcohol doesn’t taste, but leaves nice warming feeling.
