Very pale golden brew with a creamy white head. Aroma is lightly malty with a faint spiciness and some soft woody hops. A fairly assertive earthy/spicy bitterness. As it opens up, there is a also a soft perfumey yeastiness with a touch of mint, honey and light rosemary herbaceous flavour. Nice soft palate, light herbs and spices over a softly fruity yeastiness. This is a pretty nice beer really... sort of a strong Belgian/saison combination. Finishes quite dry. verymerrymonk (257), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is thin. Overall this is interesting but maybe it needs more time. nuplastikk (1252), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

Very smooth, exceptionally so. Light meady notes with a light dry, hoppy balance. Very delicate mouthfeel. This is a great Biere de Garde, vastly underrated. Excellent malt character, a perfect example of the style. hayduke (1677), Eureka, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 27, 2008 The set me back $9.75 at the North Coast Coop in Arcata, CA. Poured a very clear dark gold, with fat white head and great lacing. Nose of caramel malts and ripe fruit. Smooth mouthfeel. Flavor tends toward the malts and the finish is slightly sweet. OK once, but too expensive for this quality to drink again. thornecb (1813), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
