| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 4, 2006 Sampled this from a bottle at a beer tasting event at The Rover in Gothenburg January 14, 2006.
Golden color, very acid scent and flavor, refreshing and quite nice. Could think that it would suit well in the picnic basket a warm summer evening. KarmanGhia (276), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jan 31, 2006 Ah, Goudale. The definition of the bad Biere de Garde. This pours a highly carbonated yellow into a giant chemical head. The head settles and you sample the nose and are slightly offended by the salty French "special malts" that catch your nose and you think you are tasting a mixture of salty Nord-Pas de Calais factory fumes, a cow field, and that patiserie next to that Turk restaurant in Maubeuge that nevertheless tempted you with doughy delights each time you passed under its crusty facade. That is to say that this beer isn’t all that bad --like Nord-Pas de Calais is bearable with a cute girl on the coast in July-- but it is still bad. The alcohol is annoyingly prevalent for no apparent reason, as it supplements what is basically all grains and a complete absence of balance in the hops. The defines "super-fermented" malt-liquor that is norther French beer. ryan (1781), Beltsville, Maryland, USA
