Commercial Description:
Geary’s Autumn Ale is a faithful interpretation of the classic brown ales of Great Britain. With a deep auburn color and a subtle nut-like flavor, Geary’s Autumn Ale is the perfect choice as the seasons change.
Ingredients: Two row English malt (clarity, crystal, chocolate and wheat); Cascade, Golding & Fuggle hops.

This is a dark brown ale. Some chocolate notes and a dry flavor. The color is similar to a light porter (i.e. darker than the typical brown ale) Decent head that leaves ample lace. Crystal malt is the main aroma, but there is a very present hop bouquet providing an excellent balance. The flavor is very rich. Not a bitter beer from hops. The body is also rich, but the carbonation is above average preventing a malted thickness. The aftertaste has elements of black patent bitterness.

Bottle. Pours a brown body with an off white head. Light nutty maltiness with hints of cherry wheat and sour fruit. Light dusty earthy hop character.

2006 Bottle:
Deep amber in colour with a strong copper, ruby and orange tint. All topped by a one centimetre tan head. Really nice looking! Aroma of cardboard, corn syrup, stale malt, old hops and some gross candy. Light-bodied; Strong bitter metallic flavour with really potent malt and nut tastes that lasts quite a while and tastes horrible in the mouth. Aftertaste shows a really strong and offensive beer that isn’t worth drinking at all. Overall, definitely worth passing this one up. I didn’t like it one bit after the appearance. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased at Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 22-September-2006.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of malts, chocolate, nuts, brown sugar, and some hops. Poured copper with a hint of amber in color and a small, rocky, tan head that disappeared. Clear. Slightly sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet. Tastes of malts, chocolate, nuts, brown sugar, and a little hops. Medium body. Chalky texture. Average carbonation. Malt-sweet, brown sugar, semi-dry finish.

Has a great looking color to it. A nice dark autumn color with no fog or haze in it. Has a burnt nutty smell to it with hints of malts. Tastes great! This stuff is smooth! Has that nutty brown ale flavor to it that is as smooth as they come. It has some sweet little after taste to it. Great stuff!!

brown indeed...a deep brown with light brown head and tastes of grains mainly barley with a hint of dark cherry (that is just a touch sweet with tar molassas), metal and gravy master. this taste calms down after some few moments to that of a barley and a burnt nut flavored cherry liquor flavor that is deep and different though modestly so. frothy small carbonation that dissipates quickly. well paired for the time of year. clean dishwater type hop character.

Autumn in a bottle! A truely great brown ale with crisp and nutty hopped flavors. The cascade hops come out when this ale warms slighlty. Very nice.
