Caramel sweetness with an almost raspberry fruitiness to it, with plum and raisen. Hearty malty beer. notalush (2663), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 17, 2004 Updated: Sep 30, 2006[re-rate - it’s been a while since I’ve had this, and I must say that either my tastes have changed, or this beer has improved - subtle dark fruits and light caramel fill what I once thought was a void - nice yeasty, bready qualities abound - not fantastic, but certainly under-rated] Looks smells and tastes like an oktoberfest as an ale - it’s interesting, but that doesn’t make it good - slight sweet nuttiness and a touch of toasted bread float atop a base flavor that I can only describe as "liquid nothingness" - there’s just nothing there holding this ale together - I like geary’s, but this is a miss with me. | 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Oct 11, 2004 Slightly hazy amber color with a very quickly dissipating off white head. Faint aroma with hints of sticky brown sugar malts, but not much else. Very carbonated. Very roasty, almost astringent..a little skunky in the finish. This is either infected, or just a really poor beer that hasnt much style. Jayb0 (752), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 4, 2004 Color of autumn leaves, deep red, brown, orange with a small tan head. Malty and hopped well. A bit toasty/nutty. Body is a bit weak but overall enjoyable. TheBeerGod (3157), Newport News, Virginia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 26, 2004 Dark magenta and amber blend. Small tan head. Nose is hoppy and bitter with light malts and fruit notes. Faint spice. Taste is hoppy with some malty notes and nutty notes. A bit of a floral taste as well. Bitter fruit taste hiding in there as well. Palate is a bit oily and is bitter. Finish is, you guessed it, bitter. Not much more to this than dry, bitter hops. It’s okay and drinkable, just nothing overwhelming. Been there, and already done it. ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 23, 2004 2004 bottle. Pours a light mahogany to cherry red with some light tan/browns. Light beige/cream colored head. Aroma is highly fruity and hoppy. Lots of cherry notes from the fruity yeast and hints of light hops. Slightly nutty notes in there as well. Flavor is moderately bitter, quite dry and has more of an earthy dry hops appeal. Not finding much malt, don’t find any touch of chocolate or sweet caramel. Lightly toasted malt of some sort. A bit of thinning, medium bodied. A bit of a sour finish along with the bitterness. Seems like an everyday amber ale to me. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 16, 2004 Tap @ Blind Tiger. Cloudy brown color with small head. Arma of malt, chocolate and light hops. Taste was really nutty. I don’t know what kind, maybe pecans? Really tasty. raymow (738), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA
