Commercial Description:
Geary’s Autumn Ale is a faithful interpretation of the classic brown ales of Great Britain. With a deep auburn color and a subtle nut-like flavor, Geary’s Autumn Ale is the perfect choice as the seasons change.
Ingredients: Two row English malt (clarity, crystal, chocolate and wheat); Cascade, Golding & Fuggle hops.

Brownish-amber colour. Slightly spicy (nutmeg) aroma with hints of sour milk and nuts. Toasty, milky (I think this is a by-product of their mutated Ringwood yeast because it appeared in other Geary's I sampled later), with some earthy hops. Finishes earthy.

Brown color. The aroma is too light. Dry and dark caramel flavor; strong bitterness; the final is very dry. Boring.

(12oz bottle) Smallish beige head that mostly dissipates atop a clear copper body. Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, cherry, some earthy, light nut. Taste is moderately sweet, cherry, some sourness, raisin, earthy, light chocolate. Watery light-medium body.

Practical hazelnut sweetness overseeing a distant mud bank of toffee and orange rinds...Short, grassy hops and pomegranate seeds appear in an otherwise very placid end...An easy-to-drink offering for those who venture out of the swill path but are still not ready to stray very far...

Pours a dark amber with a decent off white head. Smells nuttey with some nice dandelion like undertones. Tastes of yogurt, toffee, caramel and rose hips with a bittersweet finish.

Deep brown pour with a thick but fast-fading tan head. The nose is quite cocoaish with a distinct herbal spiciness. A nice light sweetness and a good balance of toasted malt and soft hoppiness. This is a simple but tasty brown ale.

12 oz bottle consumed at cellar temp from a Corsendonk glass. Deep chestnut color with a smallish lasting creamy off-white head, fairly clear-bodied, little in the way of lacing....aroma is really -- how best to put -- neutral? vaguely defined caramel malts and hints of wood/nuts but it takes a while before I can tell that I’m not just smelling the glass; eventually light herbs come to the fore and it ends up rather root-beery....on the palate, too-heavy carbonation, more herbal character, dry and bitter with sour grape touches, overall it has something of the character/mouthfeel if not exactly the flavor of a strong ginger beer, and I’m not terribly enchanted.

Bottle. Pours a brown body with an off white head. Light nutty maltiness with hints of cherry wheat and sour fruit. Light dusty earthy hop character.
