Nice caramel aroma with a bit of hops. The flavor is delicious! The nuttiness along with the sweetness and bitterness are an excellent combination. It has some fruitiness but again it balances with the nuttiness and bitterness. I can drink this all night long. The light to medium body delivers flavor and drinkability. Maine is a beautiful place and everyone should go there to drink this beer and relax. Great brewing Geary’s! halfonit (472), Fall River, Massachusetts, USA

Has a burnt nutty smell to it with hints of malts. Tastes great! This stuff is smooth! Has that nutty brown ale flavor to it that is as smooth as they come. It has some sweet little after taste to it. Great stuff!! lagermonkey (597), Marietta, Georgia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 2/5 | 18/20 | May 9, 2005 The Autumn Ale is a deep amber in the glass, yet remarkably clear. Virtualy no head on this ale whatsoever. What little there is quickly dissipates leaving no lace. The smell is light and nutty. I certainly wasn’t expecting a red/brown ale to be so hoppy. First taste has quite a bite to it, fading to a nutty flavor with a hint of caramel. Very, very good! The body is medium but disappointingly fades quickly. Very thin on aftertaste save the hops. Very smooth. Easy to drink, especially if you don’t mind the hops. A gift from a guest, this ale is a very pleasant surprise and will certainly hit the spot on these cool autumn days in Maine.

Anyways...it has a beautiful reddish color to it with some interesting choco-coffee stuff going on. I think if you let it linger on the tongue too long you will notice a light and lively carbination, but otherwise it's not a factor. Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA

Smells nuttey with some nice dandelion like undertones. Tastes of yogurt, toffee, caramel and rose hips with a bittersweet finish. ruggedman (626), Portland, Maine, USA
