Commercial Description:
Hampshire has a huge toasted malt flavor balanced by assertive hoppiness. The finish is long and lingering with the malt and hop notes blending with alcohol warmth. Two row English malts (pale, crystal and chocolate); Cascade, Mt. Hood and East Kent Golding hops.

(On tap) at The Great Lost Bear in Portland Maine. Malty scent, pours a dark amber, its a rich slightly bitter brew. It hides the alchol well because I couldn’t tell it was 7%. Overall a quality beer, though I wish it was a bit more complex.

(Bottle) Pours lightly hazy amber body with a small creamy white head. Aroma of toasted malt, toffee, and light citrus. Flavor of sweet malt, mild hops, and caramel.

This is a nice and flavorful Strong Ale. I really enjoyed this beer on tap and it does not lose much to the bottle which was really nice to see. Great beer!

Pours bright amber into a trappist glass. Off-white conglomerate head skims surface and subsides. Burnt orange and caramel notes. Creamy with upfront caramel/honey with turns to a lasting bitter finish.

Bottle. Smelled strong with I first opened the bottle. Not heavy, as I thought it would be. Nice hop, and bitter balance.

Big beer, excellent malt flavors. A decent alcohol percentage, but the alcohol doesn’t taste heavy or hot. Hop presence, but I wouldn’t say that this is overly bitter or too strong of a hop flavor. A very well done beer, very different than the approach used by west coast brewers.

Very dry hop flavor. Not too crazy about this beer. It just doesnt offer much in the taste.
