That was interesting. The label gives nothing away for this one, I didn’t even know the style. However, it does pour up a rich brown, lots of malts, quite tasty, in fact. Good stuff, this one. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 18, 2006 Perhaps a little too cool when I poured it for myself. After sitting a few minutes, the taste came around. Malty, easy to drink, pretty good. Not bad, and there is something about beers from Maine that make me happy. Good beer. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 9, 2006 12oz pours an opulent copper color with limited head. The aroma is sweet and appealing. Distinct notes are hard to ascertain but overall I enjoyed this beer immensely. Darker flavors of bourbon, tobacco, and all spice dominate the palate. An all around wonderful beer. webjedi (249), Silver Spring, Maryland, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 25, 2006 Pours with a ruddy orange golden hue, slight foam head, slightly opaque (unfiltered?). Hints of sweet malt and light hops (when cold), with stronger scent in glass. Pleasant on the tongue, little bitterness. Light lacing on the glass. Overall a pleasant beer. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 20, 2006 Pours dark amber topped by a single layer of bubbles. Sparse but lovely effervescence. All malts in the aroma--sweet caramel and roasty biscuits. Some earthy hop character and a little smokiness. Very toasty initial flavor that settles into a very English toffee, biscuit, and that East Kent Golding hop taste. The end brings with it a slight American hop character--a bit of pine that fits surprisingly well with the already present earthiness. Not much alcohol in the taste, but there is some warming that makes this one great for the season.
